Florence is one of the most beautiful cities we visited while overseas. Often described as an open air museum, the city is filled with old-world charm and magnificent pieces of art. You'll feel like you've been transported back to the Renaissance. So take a tour through Florence from our perspective.
If you visit just one museum in Florence make it the Gallery of the Academy of Florence. Here is where the masterpiece sculpted by Michelangelo, David, is located. Truly awe inspiring. This is a must-see when visiting the city. Get there early before the line starts to form or you'll be waiting a couple of hours outside.
Visit the Piazza della Signoria, an open air museum where you can admire the Fountain of Neptune among other great sculptures.
If you rather not pay to climb Il Duomo but still want a great view of this beautiful city then climb up the many stairs to the Piazzale Michelangelo. You'll be treated to a breathtaking view of the city and the mountain ranges in the background. Well worth the time getting up there.

Take a walk over Ponte Vecchio or better yet walk along an adjacent bridge and enjoy the view of the bridge at night.
